Shopify Unite 2022 is back. This year it will be held in three different cities-London, Toronto and Melbourne. Kickstarting in London, the event will then be held in Toronto and conclude in Melbourne. A series of two-day events in each location will be packed with Shopify-led sessions, discussion on development best practices with partners, one-on-one technical office hours, guided hands-on coding workshops and much more.
Describing the event, Shopify wrote, “Shopify Unite is back, and this time, we’re holding a series of in-person events where you can gather with your peers, learn about developer opportunities on Shopify, and collaborate to build something amazing”.

Location And Schedule
- London: Shopify Unite 2022 event in London will be held at Tobacco Dock, Waping from 12 to 13 September. Built in 1812, the historic commerce site was once a hub for precious cargo that included molasses, tobacco, wine and furs arriving from all over the world.
- Toronto: Shopify Unite 2022 Toronto event is scheduled to be held from 12-13 October. Shopify’s Annual Developer Conference will be organised at The Evergreen Brick Works. Talking about the historical relevance of the site, it began as Don Valley Pressed Brick Company in 1889 providing building materials for most of the high-profile structures in Ontario. It was reopened in 2010 as an event center.
- Melbourne: The event in Melbourne will be held from 26-17 October at Timber Yard. One of the premier meeting venues in Melbourne, Timber Yard was built on the idea of recycling and up-cycling. It was once used for drying lumber and making furniture.

- London: Dion Almaer, VP Engineering, DX at Shopify, Liat Zakay, Director of Strategic Growth, Shopify and Surma, DX Engineer at Shopify will be the keynote speakers at the London event of Shopify Unite 2022.
- Toronto: Dion Almaer, VP Engineering, DX at Shopify, Vanessa Lee, VP of Product at Shopify and Farhan Thawar, VP Engineering, Shopify will be keynote speakers at Shopify Unite 2022 Toronto.
- Melbourne: Dion Almaer, VP Engineering, DX at Shopify, Tracy Kaur, Senior Launch Engineer at Shopify and Scott Dixon, Developer Advocate Shopify will be keynote speakers at Melbourne for Shopify Unite this year.
What to Expect?
Shopify Unite is perfect for those who are creating or plan to build apps, custom storefronts or themes on Shopify. It is basically a developer-first event series. There will be coding workshops and one-on-one technical problem-solving sessions. The event will focus on content and programming as well.
Can Only Shopify Partners Attend Shopify Unite?
No, one doesn’t need to be a Shopify Partner in order to attend Shopify Unite 2022. Any commerce developer interested in knowing more about building on the platform as well as in-house developers who work for Shopify merchants can participate. However, in order to participate in workshops, one has to complete setup steps that include having a Partner account. Other steps will depend on the topic of the workshop.
Can a Person Attend More Than One Event of Shopify Unite?
As space is limited at each event, hence, each organisation can get only three tickets across all the locations. As keynotes, workshops and other things will be almost similar across all the events, there will be no need to attend the event at more than one location.
Will Shopify Unite 2022 be Available Online?
Shopify Unite 2022 will not be live streamed, however, recordings of Shopify talks, keynote presentations, workshops and Partner-led talks will be made online after the event concludes.
Shopify Unite 2021: What Happened Last Year?
Last year, Shopify Unite was held on June 29, 2021. During the live event, significant changes were announced to boost performance and facilitate ease of use of its e-commerce platform. Several updates and changes were demonstrated which was termed “Online Store 2.0.”
