Shopify is known for running compelling advertisements. This time, the Canadian e-commerce giant is promoting a dog sweater and its own online store called ‘Shopify Supply‘. The minimalistic and subtle Shopify store describes itself as a one-stop shop for big dreamers.

Shopify Supply claims to be “not your typical swag shop”. It features clothing, books and “swag from the little green bag” designed in collaboration with Shopify merchants. “We know you have big dreams for your business, so we’ve designed unique products to help bring them to life. We’re here to power your 9-5, 5-9, and everything in between,” it states in the About section.

The company’s aim is to support entrepreneurs and big dreamers.

The Dog Sweater

Coming to the dog sweater, Shopify on Friday tweeted a video of a dog in the role of a hard-working entrepreneur. The little dog can be seen working on a computer, checking the Shopify store, running ads and packing orders before eating snacks, going for a walk, playing with other dogs and getting to sleep after a long day.

“The hardest working entrepupneur in the game right here,” Shopify captioned the 35-second TikTok video.

As netizens started to pour love on Shopify’s amusing tweet, it soon dropped a link captioning: “Oh yes furry friends (and your humans) we just got stocked with the smolest sweater you ever did see. Trot on over to Shopify Supply to get yours now”.

Priced at USD$25.00, the dog sweater is featured in the Entrepreneur Capsule section, which is described as comfortable fits that “make great workwear”. Available in seven sizes from extra small to XXXL, the sweater can be purchased for four interest-free payments of $6.25 with Shop Pay.

What is Shop Pay?

It is a fast and secure payment option available to customers who shop online at participating e-commerce stores. Developed and offered by Shopify, Shop Pay allows customers to save their shipping and payment information in one place, making it easier and faster to checkout on future purchases. It also provides additional security features such as fraud protection and order tracking.

Shop Pay also supports sustainable e-commerce by allowing customers to offset the carbon emissions associated with their purchases through a partnership with international environmental non-profit organizations. It is available on select e-commerce platforms, including Shopify, and is designed to improve the customer checkout experience and reduce cart abandonment rates.

In August last year, Shopify added a text-to-buy feature to Shop Pay with the help of Attentive. The feature enables users to buy products directly from an SMS conversation with a brand. It aims to change browsers into buyers with a smooth checkout flow made especially for mobile devices.

The text-to-buy feature makes shopping easy in a response to the promotional text message. There will be no need to navigate the brand’s website or any checkout page.

Shopify estimates that mobile conversation rates are over 60 percent lesser than desktop rates. The frictionless experience for shoppers will be based on their browsing and expenditure patterns. Everything will happen within a text message.

“Consumer behavior has fundamentally changed over the past five years. Mobile is now the primary shopping device and allows for shopping at any time, and consumers are more comfortable buying directly from brands than ever before,” Amit Jhawar, President of Attentive, said at the time of the product launch.

“Launching Attentive’s text-to-buy solution is our first step to helping brands close the purchase gap and convert more browsers into buyers and I cannot think of a better partner with which to launch than Shopify given the breadth of its merchants, industry leading security, and innovation,” he added.

Carl Rivera, VP of Product & Head of Shop, Shopify, believes that Shop Pay is the best way to check out when it comes to social media e-commerce. “We’re excited to now bring the same seamless payments to power text-to-buy solutions together with Attentive,” Rivera said.

Innovative Products by Shopify

Shopify is known for launching creative products, not only for shoppers but for its merchant partners as well. In March 2022, Shopify launched Linkpop, a link in bio tool. It allows creators and merchants to make their links in bio shoppable. They can add important brand-building links on the Linkpop page and launch social storefronts to sell directly on the platforms where they are engaging with audiences.

Linkpop also allows consumers to directly browse curated product lists and make purchases without leaving the app they are using. It comes with built-in analytics tools that help merchants understand consumer engagement in a better way. A mobile-friendly option is also available with a starter plan of $5. Links can be shared on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify and other platforms.

Later in May, the e-commerce company launched Shopify Audiences to help merchants find potential customers who have high intent to buy their products. Shopify Plus merchants can sync Shopify Audiences with the advertising networks of their choice –initially Facebook and Instagram and later TikTok, Snap, Pinterest and Microsoft Advertising among others.

In July, Shopify announced a partnership with YouTube to provide merchants and creators with a powerful way to connect to their audience and build their businesses. YouTube Shopping on Shopify allows merchants to easily integrate their online store with the video platform, thus, reaching over two billion monthly logged-in users.

Shopify Collabs, a medium to connect Shopify merchants and content creators, was launched in August of this year. It helps creators discover brands without any hassle and at the same time, allows merchants to reach new consumers. It facilitates the creators’ path to entrepreneurship.

Shopify Collabs also allows creators to establish partnerships with merchants and build curated shops and share products. They do need to go through the cumbersome process of hunting brands for collaborations. This allows them to focus more on their content.

In September, Shopify first launched Shopify Markets Pro and Shopify Translate & Adapt and then Shopify POS Go, a handheld tool resembling a smartphone. Shopify Markets Pro aims to democratize small business owners’ access to international commerce. Shopify Translate & Adapt, on the other hand, localizes the customer journey to boost selling global selling chances for merchants.

With the launch of POS Go, Shopify plans to establish a foothold in the hardware market. POS Go allows retailers to offer wireless checkout anywhere in the store. There’s no need to connect it to a computer or mobile phone. The device comes with a card reader, inventory tracker and a built-in barcode scanner. It is ready to be used right out of the box. Switch on the device and connect it to all resources, tools, and support needed for business.
