Shopify has launched Shopify Markets Pro and Shopify Translate & Adapt in a bid to capture international selling market. Both the new products are based on enormous success of Shopify Markets, which allows merchants to online sell their products to anyone across the globe.

The initiative is aimed to democratize small business owners’ access to international commerce. The new Shopify Markets Pro will help them expand business globally. It covers more than 150 countries. Shopify Translate & Adapt, on the other hand, localizes the customer journey to boost international selling chances for merchants.

With Shopify Markets Pro, and our partnership with Global-e, we’re empowering merchants to rapidly scale their international sales using a merchant-of-record solution that would typically be inaccessible to independent brands.

Global Expansion

The Canada-based e-commerce giant helps local merchants set up their online stores and sell products without much complexity. In 2021, Shopify launched Shopify Markets to enable cross-border selling options for online merchants. The initiative has helped over 175,000 merchants sell their locally produced articles across the globe. Talking about the biggest e-commerce market — the United States, Shopify Markets claims to have helped an average merchant to sell products to over 14 other countries.

Improved Shipping

“Using Shopify markets has been a game changer for us. It has given us transparent, easy-to-digest data that helps inform how we are performing globally,” David Wiggins, Head of Ecommerce at Walk London, said.

“Utilizing this data has also allowed us to make more strategic marketing decisions, such as offering an improved shipping service, more localized payment methods or introduce new languages appropriate to specific markets. This all helps fuel our growth strategy,” Wiggins added.

Walk London is a UK-based footwear brand. Under the shipping page, it claims to deliver products in 33 countries, including one from the Middle East and rest 32 from Europe.

Global-e Tieup

Shopify has partnered with Global-e for Markets Pro to enable overnight business expansion to more than 150 countries.

“Whether selling internationally for the first time, or scaling a nascent part of their business, merchants are faced with new and evolving complexities, like tax, duties, pricing, language and payments. With Shopify Markets Pro, and our partnership with Global-e, we’re empowering merchants to rapidly scale their international sales using a merchant-of-record solution that would typically be inaccessible to independent brands,” Rohit Mishra, Director of Product at Shopify, said.

“And because Markets Pro is integrated directly with the Shopify admin, it gives merchants a single, unified view of their business—no matter where they’re selling,” he added.

Top Features of Shopify Markets Pro Include:

1. Manage Taxes

To help merchants sell their products in different countries with different tax and duty compliance, Shopify Markets Pro manages all complexities involved on the behalf of the store owner. The solution further helps in handling currencies fluctuations and fraudulent orders from across the globe.

2. Affordable Shipping

International selling comes with expensive delivery options. To resolve this issue, Shopify Markets Pro offers affordable express shipping with DHL. The solution finds out the best of competitive rates, negotiates on merchants’ behalf and ensures safe and fast delivery.

3. Consumer Experience

Shopify Markets Pro aims to deliver a localised customer experience to each of the shoppers. By providing customers options like local currency, local payment methods and no hidden fees on delivery, the solution has impressed both merchants and buyers.

The data compiled by Shopify Markets Pro claims:

  • Displaying local currency increases GMV by seven percent among international buyers
  • Local payment methods increase six percent checkout rate

Managing Global Markets

“Shopify Markets Pro has simplified and scaled our global expansion strategy without adding any of the complexity that we would typically face when selling to international consumers,” Jake Allain, COO at State & Liberty Clothing Co., said.

“Understanding the nuances of global markets is a daunting task, and having that managed for us by Shopify, the platform we’re already using to build our business, has allowed us to focus on designing high quality products,” Allain added.
